Bye bye Sidney

Sidney is going to Italy tomorrow with her mom, stepdad and stepsister. Since we are going to miss her we let her choose where to go for dinner tonight. She chose manee thai. Yum! Sidney and I love sushi, gabe loves Thai soups (have no idea where he got that from) and Jorge likes anything that's not sushi.

Gabe was so funny. He wouldn't eat the baby carrot, but he would dip it in his soup and lick it off. He can be such a goofy kid sometimes! Where did he even come up with that idea? He finally let Sidney feed him the broth.

That is until he wanted to do it himself. Or eat with chopsticks. It's so weird that he enjoys different foods. Jorge always eats the same thing (with some exceptions). Sidney is more adventurous, and so am I. However, I never would have eaten Thai noodle soup when I was not even two.

We had a great dinner (and a crazy trip to two targets!) but we are going to miss Sidney. Hopefully she has an awesome time! I have never been to Europe so I'm a little jealous and I hope she comes back with some cool pictures.

Sleep issues continue

Ha! I bet you all thought gabe became an excellent sleeper. You were WRONG! Nap time has become somewhat easier. When he falls asleep, if he falls asleep, he usually sleeps on the couch. I had to hold him for naps for almost a year. My god, when I think of all the things I could have been doing with that time!

Bed time (ugh) is so not going well. Jorge decided that he liked to cuddle with gabe at bedtime. The two would go to bed and both would fall asleep. At the time, Jorge was working overnight so he needed a little nap.

Now, it sucks, like ALOT. it is taking almost 40 minutes for him to fall asleep with one of us in bed with him. I take him to his crib when I know he's asleep. However, he comes back to our bed later. Sometimes it's as great as 5. Sometimes it's as bad as 40 minutes after he went to his bed. That I do not like at all. I like to cuddle, but I'd prefer it was a morning cuddle, not an all night cuddle.

I'm thinking of moving his crib in our room. Here's a little problem, I'm going to Florida with gabe soon. We will have to sleep together so it seems silly to start something now since that will be out of the window when we are on vacation. Any suggestions?

So defeated

I'm not sure what just happened.

I just realized that I have actually gained weight in the past few weeks. *defeated sigh*. How did this happen? Should I diet? Let me tell you, everytime I think I'm going to go on an official diet, I don't last two days. Whatever I decided that I was going to cut out, I CRAVE. Like non stop. So, I'm going to try really hard to drink TONS of water and hope that that helps.

Also, i have a love/hate relationship with pinterest. I love to see all of these awesome DIY stuff (that i could maybe make some money off of) but I have no time and no resources. So I guess I'm having a little pity party for myself right now. Thanks for "listening".

Here's a sleeping baby picture to make up for it.

Left out some things...

Maybe Saturday was a great day. Maybe I did get up super early to babysit on Sunday. I may have left out what happened on Sunday evening. (ok, I felt guilty so I must come clean)

Usually we go to my moms for Sunday dinner. My aunt is sick (nothing too serious we hope) but she is in st. louis because she went to a wedding before she got sick. Anywho, my mom was a little upset that her sis is sick and far away so I thought it would be nice to go out for dinner. Hahaha!

Pop? Pop?

It started off ok(ish). Gabe of course wanted pop. He got some from his GB. But then he was loud. Not in an upset, tantrumy *new word!* way, but in an I'm gonna be loud, don't know what an inside voice is, kinda way. So, little embarrassment.

He ate ok, when he wasn't trying to put his Mac and cheese hands all over Jorge and then laughing about it. It was near impossible to get him to stop hitting Jorge because, let's be honest, it was funny to see his little Mac and cheese hands flying into Jorge's shoulder.

Once the drama at red robin was over, we decided to head over to the bookstore. That was terrible! OMG! I mishandled the situation for sure. I had always said if gabe got out of control, screaming, crying, whatever, that I'd take him out of the store. So, why didn't I do that? I had a drink and books in my hand and I just felt helpless. I gave up. I felt like he would just keep screaming no matter what, so I just let him. What is wrong with me?!

Ok, first major screamfest so I guess I'm off the hook this time, but I hope I react better next time *i know there will be many more next times*

Early morning Sunday

We had a good day yesterday. However, gabe and I went to bed at 8 last night so I couldn't write anything. Why so early? I had to get up at 4:15 am to babysit and gabe decided he was too cool for naptime yesterday. (boy was he wrong!) gabe was passed out by 8:15 which would have been awesome if I didnt have to go to sleep too.

Anyways, I can't believe what a good day we had, and how much we accomplished. The day started with Sidney's softball game. It was a good game, mostly. There were definitely a few loooong innings. In the end, the lady pumas won, 32 to 23. So awesome!

Sidney was just aching to steel bases

We came home and I was hoping that gabe would take a nap after lunch (hot dogs again) but he had other plans. He played with his trucks, would lay down on the couch, and get up to play again. I was frustrated. This went on for almost two hours, until it got to the point where taking a nap would really interfere with bedtime. So, we started to do some much needed decorating in the house.

Dinner was great, I made patty melts. We have grilled cheese at least once a week so it was nice to change it up with some patty melts.

Cheeeese!!!

It was nice to have some family time and to also get some stuff done around the house. Eight was the perfect bedtime too because we had such a full day, there wasn't really anything else left to do.

So tired

I don't know what happened, but I am so tired! We had a great morning at the park with Kyle. Kyle even came over to play for a bit. Man, are those two nuts when they get together! After lunch titi (Jorge's sis Cristina) and auntie jazzy picked up gabe and now I'm crashing.....

Maybe a little nap won't hurt....

Wordless Wednesday

Gabe took about 50 pictures of himself today with my phone making the funniest faces!

He also jammed with his Elmo guitar. He walked around and sang too, "lalala" too cute.

Don't forget talking on the phone with GB. He loves it. He will take the phone away from me and keep saying "hi" and "truck"

Monday night=game night

Sidney is very into sports. For anyone who knows me, I am not. However,I have made it to a few of her softball games and Ive gotta admit it....I'm a little into it. I like hanging out with the other families and cheering her on. The other day, I didn't make it to this game but, she got the game ball and the coach on the other team told them to watch out because she's a hitter! How exciting!

One year later...

Last year I started this blog thinking I would have so many things to say and so much time to do it. Ha! Was I wrong! But, I have really enjoyed documenting our little life. We are busier more often than not, so sometimes it's hard, or sometimes I feel silly saying "wait! Take a picture! I gotta blog!". In the end though, it's nice being able to look back at the things we have done.
This weekend was the annual neighborhood garage sale. It was HOT! I don't really like hot, but I do like a bargain.

We hung out with bill (our old neighbor) and his little man, baby j. Gabe loves baby j. He gives him tons of hugs. They are going to be great friends I just know it.

Jorge's mom and sisters met us there and got gabe this cute wagon. Gabe is more like his mommy when it comes to the heat. He was totally done being outside for once.

Saturday was also the day of the dance recital. It actually went really well. I messed up the first step of the first dance (and yes, people noticed...it was obvious), but after that things went great. Better than I have ever remembered. My moms neighbor said I floated in the ballet dance and I was so happy. Ballet is my thing. I always wanted to be a ballerina, but I was too short (and chesty hahaha).

I didn't take any pictures in my costumes or dancing, but here is my hair and makeup. The curls fell pretty fast because of the heat. But that's ok.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and a great fathers day. Happy fathers day to the best daddy and the best da-da to our little man! Love you both!

Nutella cookies

I don't know about you guys, but I loooove nutella. A recipe has been floating around pinterest for nutella cookies and it seemed too good to be true. So, yesterday while gabe was devouring yet another bowl of pasta, I made some.

The recipe was really simple. I'm still not used to taking pictures for every step so I'll just have to write the ingredients.
1 c nutella
1 egg
1 c flour
1/2 c sugar
Mix and form into balls. Flatten with the bottom of a glass and bake at 350 for 6-8 minutes

I wound up using the whole container of nutella (the little one). The mix was still a little dry so I looked up what other people said and they agreed. A few added a tbsp of water. That seemed to help. Next time, I think that I will add less flour also. They were a little dry/flaky so I didn't roll them into balls, I just flattened them with my hands. They don't spread much so you can place them pretty close together. I baked them for 8 minutes.

They taste much better than they look. It does taste just like nutella. But I think they were still a dryer cookie so next time I'm going to make sure the batter is a little wetter. Enjoy!

Run down

This week has really taken a toll on me. I feel like I got hit by a bus and it's only 10 am! Yesterday, I tried to blog, but gabe never napped and chaos insued.

Not only was gabe at his breaking point because he was so tired, I was at my breaking point because he was so tired. It was a bad cycle.

Today seems better, except the week has caught up with me and I'm exhausted. And, tomorrow is going to be HOT and it's the dance recital. I just want to spend Sunday in bed! But seeing as its fathers day, I guess Jorge gets to spend the day in bed. Time to hit dunkin donuts for an iced coffee!

Hope everyone has a great Friday! I did make nutella cookies yesterday and I hope to get the pictures and recipe up by the end of the day.

Recital mode

Ok. I have been MIA again. This time I swear it's not my fault! Really! It's that time of year that I honestly never thought I would be revisiting. Its recital time. *no exclamation point because I'm not really excited*. However, I have entered "recital mode", so named by Jorge.

When we started dating eons ago, I was big into dance. Every Wednesday for three hours with a recital in June. I quit when we got married, mostly because of the time commitment and the money. Costumes and shoes are EXPENSIVE! Anyways, ms. Geri conned me back into dance and the recital this year. I was not (still not) looking forward to the recital, but my mind isn't cooperating. I have entered recital mode, thinking about my hair, makeup, costumes...and letting it kinda stress me out.

Dance pictures from years ago...

Yesterday was picture day and I let recital mode take over. This hair, that makeup...no lets change it...no I don't like that either. Ugh! I don't want this to happen but I can't stop it! This is what is settled on (FYI...I'm not even getting pictures)

So I am sorry for being MIA, hopefully after Saturday I will be normal!

Steppin' Out Weekend

Look at me, going out, dressed nicely, all weekend. I'm impressed with myself (if I do say so myself)

What I wore:
Top: target (I think, it's pre-pregnancy so I'm not too sure)
Skirt: old navy
Sandals: target

Saturday we hung out at my in-laws house and went to ribfest. Yum yum yum!!! I love ribs, they are like one of my favorite foods. I also had this amazing pulled pork sandwhich, arhat my sis in law called "Jesus on a bun". It was sweet with a little bit of spice. It was AMAZING!

What I wore:
Top: sports authority (seriously cute stuff there!)
Shorts: khols
Shoes: pink frog

Today was a big day. Gabe finally got his first haircut! I almost cried when she cut off all of his baby curls. *holding back tears now* He did pretty good. He didn't really cry, he just wanted to get out of the chair. We went to snippets and the woman who cut his hair was very nice. This was obviously not her first hair cut which is why I wanted to go there.

He looks like a kid! Omg, where did my baby go?! But really, I'm glad I did it. He was a little less sweaty today and now he won't have a ton of crazy tangles.

The rest of the day was great. I grilled hot dogs (gabes fav) for my parents for lunch and then we played in the icy pool. It was a great weekend!
